So you
think you have what it takes to become America’s Next Top Model Student? Well,
to begin, you need to form a solid base of English skills and make sure your
portfolio has stunning images of English perfection. You need to at least make
it past the audition process. Next, prepare for a makeover. No matter how
talented of a student you are, you need to be open to improvements and perhaps
even a dramatic pixie cut. Study habits, work ethic etc. will all need to
improve tenfold. Now that you made it
this far, make sure to pack for every environment. You could end up in
sweltering Australia, but, more than likely, you will feel colder than you
would doing as swimsuit photoshoot in Antarctica while sitting in the English
room. Bring a Snuggie. As well, accept that you will lose friends along the
way. After all, few can continue on each quarter in hopes of becoming America’s
Next Top Model Student. Do not, under
any circumstances, give up. You do not want to have to immediately return to
your locker, pack up your belongings and go home. Work hard, it is worth it.
For every time you feel on the verge of stress-induced breakdown, know the good
always outweighs the bad. Finally, do
not let yourself get too intimidated by Ms. Serensky’s prestigious reputation
and focused attitude, because she proves one of the rare teachers that truly
cares about you as a person and a student. Plus, Tyra is a lot worse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6Shpn5WCFs
Katherine I found myself smirking at the cleverness of your blog. I love ANTM and enjoyed the parallels you made between the show and the AP English classroom. I especially liked the line when you state "return to your locker, pack up your belongings and go home" . I thought your comical nature of this blog allowed for the reader to relax and realize that AP English proves worth it in the end when one has a long term goal whether that goal involves good writing skills or fierceness.
